Before you begin posting or browsing, please make sure that you read over the rules. For Posting:
1) No more than 4 teaser images.
Less is more. Because this is a gif community, pages are going to take forever to load on their own. Please don't add to the problem by posting more than 4 gifs before a cut or a link.
2) If you link to an outside post, make sure said post is open.
It's no fun to see a gif that you like, only to have to join a community to see it. If your posts are only going to remain open for a certain amount of time, let everyone know in your cross-post.
3) If you don't have a personal gif journal, feel free to post your gifs here.
This is a community for both gif "ads" (when you post teasers and a link to the actual post), and a place where you can make gif entries. Just make sure that you follow rule number one and tag your post with "*complete".
4) Use the tags.
We would like for this community to remain as organized as possible, so please use the tags. If you need a tag that has not been created yet, page-a-mod
and we'll take care of it.For Browsing:
1) Never ever hotlink a gif.
When you hotlink, it makes gifs load slower and it also runs the risk of exceeding bandwidth. So save any gifs you find to your computer and upload them to an image hosting site such as TinyPic or Photobucket when you want to use them yourself.
If you're using a gif for something in your layout (such as in your profile or header), crediting the maker is the polite thing to do.
3) Follow the maker's rules.
If they've asked you to do or not to do something that's different than what this post says, do it. Maker's rules should always come first.
4) Take advantage of the request post.
If there is an episode that you would like someone to gif or a certain moment in an episode you would like gifed, post a comment in that week's request post
. Someone might just point you in the right direction.
If you see something you like or if you take anything, comment the maker's post to let them know. It's their way of knowing that people like what they're gifing.
